Temple University Admit Pack

Brief

The admit pack is the centerpiece of any college admissions cycle, marking the point where prospective students become admitted students, and the marketing goal shifts to converting them to committed students (a period referred to as yield). Kicking off the yield cycle, it needs to make a dramatic and lasting impression on students and their families—and prove why Temple is the best choice.

Temple is a large public institution with shallow pockets and a massive annual applicant pool. Consequently, the budget for this project came in under $2 per unit—including the cost of mailing. In addition, the piece needed to contain a multitude of information, including personalized elements tailored to each student. The high impact, low budget nature of this piece made it a unique challenge that I was eager to tackle.

Vision

Early concepts were attempted by our partner agency, before the admit pack landed on my desk to be fully realized. Taking cues from the agency’s moodboards and my keen understanding of the university’s needs, I built a sophisticated admit pack that is personal, exciting, and commemorates this momentous achievement in a student’s journey.

The final design begins with a crisp, black, self-mailing enclosure with gravitas akin to a wedding invitation. A tear-strip unveils the first interior layer, greeting viewers with a personalized letter from the president and a quote from the founder. The letter is presented beneath a translucent sheet with the iconic Temple T front and center—this sheet serving as both an elegant experience  and practical protection from ink transfer. Below the letter, fold-out panels reveal a brochure and set of cards; these cards vary based on what campus a student is admitted to, if they are first-year or transfer students, and if they have been admitted to the Honors program. Below the cards is a final message that references both the letter and founder’s quote.

Results

The final package is an elevated celebration of acceptance that proudly meets students as they ready for the next chapter. Beautiful, cost-effective, and a testament to the staying power of printed materials, it’s the kind of object you want to hold onto.
